There are horror stories that manage to cross the pages to manifest in real life in a terrifying way. This is the case of Masaaki Nakayama, the author of the acclaimed sleeve of horror PTSD Radio. The work is known for its disturbing images and stories about the supernatural and the unknown. However, the fiction became reality when the mangaka decided to stop the publication indefinitely. Nakayama experienced a series of unexplained events that put his physical and mental integrity at risk. What started as a creative project ended up becoming a real personal nightmare for the author.

The authority of this story is born from the author’s own statements about his work environment. After moving to a new drawing studio, Nakayama made a very disturbing discovery on the ceiling. He found a small Japanese sanctuary, known as Hokora, which was completely broken and hidden. Shortly after this discovery, strange phenomena began to occur within the artist’s offices. Both he and his assistants reported hearing heavy footsteps when no one else was present. They also reported unusual scents and shadows that moved around the corners of the recording studio.

The experience lived by the work team was so extreme that several attendees resigned out of fear. Nakayama suffered severe physical consequences that suddenly and painfully affected his health in a short time. He developed severe bruises and an alarming facial swelling that worried all his GPs. Finally, he was diagnosed with idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, an autoimmune disease that causes heavy bleeding and blisters. The scariest thing happened when the author tried to resume his work after leaving the hospital recently. His face immediately swelled again as soon as he sat down in front of his drawing table.

The reliability of this indefinite pause is based on the personal safety of the mangaka over everything else. Fearing that continuing the story would trigger more incidents, Nakayama made a drastic and final decision. He hastily rewrote the end of Volume 6 to close the plot somehow coherent. The sleeve It is currently incomplete and does not seem to continue in the near future. The author firmly believes that the work is linked to a negative energy that should not be awakened. His health improved significantly since he moved away from the drawings of PTSD Radio definitely.

the case of PTSD Radio It is one of the few where the author admits that his sleeve It’s cursed. Masaaki Nakayama’s security was prioritized over the commercial success of his horror work.

Nakayama made the most courageous decision by listening to his own body and environment. Many authors are forced to work under extreme health conditions, but this seems to go further. The coincidences between the discovery of the sanctuary and its medical problems are too precise to ignore. It is a pity that such a brilliant work remains unfinished for such disturbing and dark reasons. However, the well-being of the creator should always be the first before any artistic or work project. This event adds a frightening cloak of mysticism that makes the manga even more legendary.
