The Rakugo is a traditional form of Japanese storytelling that requires years of study and practice for a learner to master and reach the prestigious Shinuchi rank. Since childhood, Akane Ousaki has felt a deep admiration for Rakugo’s interpretations of her father, Tooru. Hidden behind a sliding door, he spent hours watching him in silence, memorizing every gesture, every pause, every nuance of his voice.
For Tooru, there is only one step left to reach the long-awaited rank: a promotion test in front of the public and a higher-ranking teacher, Issho Arakawa. However, despite his on-stage dedication, Tooru fails on the exam and is expelled from Rakugo’s school.
