Today is October 31. For millions of people, it is Halloween, a night of sweets, costumes and parties. But for anime fans Jujutsu Kaisen, this date has a completely different weight. Today, in the Lore of the series, it is the day that the Shibuya incident.

It is not a celebration. It is a commemoration. It’s the day that Gege Akutami, author of the work, decided to break history and, by the way, our hearts. On social networks, the “meme” is to wish a “happy Shibuya incident”, a black humor joke that we all understand: we remember the day that everything fell apart.

Hoy no es Halloween, es 31 de octubre: El día que Jujutsu Kaisen nos rompió el corazón

Why is October 31 so painful at Jujutsu Kaisen?

The incident of Shibuya It was not just another plot arc; It was the turning point that redefined the series forever. It was the master trap of Kenjaku and the curses to neutralize the strongest sorcerer in the world.

What began as a massive terrorist attack in one of Tokyo’s most iconic districts, calling for the presence of Gojo Satoru, became the longest and bloodiest night in the history of sorcery. It was the end of the era of “normality” and the beginning of true chaos.

The moments that marked us (and that we did not overcome)

If you’re here, you know what we’re talking about. The Shibuya incident is plagued by moments that remained etched in our memory. These are the ones that the fandom remembers with the most pain today:

1. The seal of Gojo Satoru

The plan was simple: if you can’t kill him, lock him up. see to Satoru Gojo, the pillar of Jujutsu Kaisen and the symbol of hope, being deceived by Kenjaku (using the body of GETO) and trapped in the confining prison (Prison Realm) It was the first blow. The phrase “In my mind, you are already dead!” It resounded as the beginning of the end.

2. The Sacrifice of Nanami Kento

Perhaps the cruelest moment in the entire arch. Nanami Kento, everyone’s favorite adult, the man who only dreamed of retiring to Malaysia, gave us one of the most devastating goodbyes.

After surviving Dagon and being burned by Jogo, his final encounter with Mahito is anime’s story. His last vision of his friend Haibara and his final words to Itadori —”the rest I entrust to you”— are a wound that, frankly, has not healed. Today, the fandom remembers him as the real hero he was.

3. The Fall of Shibuya

The arc did not stop there. We saw the total destruction of the district, the possible (and traumatic) “death” of Nobara Kugisaki, Itadori’s mental collapse, and Mahohoga’s desperate invocation by Megumi. It was a cascade of misfortunes, one after another, without giving us a second to breathe.

The “Happy Shibuya Incident”: A Meme To Not Cry

Today, October 31, networks are flooded with commemorative fanarts, memes and videos. The “Happy Shibuya Incident” is the community’s way of collectively processing this fictional trauma.

It is a testimony of Akutami’s incredible script: it managed to make a date on the calendar feel real, creating an event that, year after year, unites fans in a shared mourning.

So while you see pumpkins and ghosts today, if you meet a Jujutsu Kaisen fan, you might understand why his look is a bit lost. Today is not Halloween for us. Today we remember Shibuya.
