Apple Music is about to add a way to record yourself singing karaoke without leaving the app. It’s called Selfie Sing and will arrive with iOS 27.3, a beta version that’s already available to try. Engadget broke the news based on a report from MacRumors, and the first preview was shared by user Aaron (@aaronp613) on X on November 4th.
The feature is an evolution of Sing, the karaoke mode Apple introduced in 2022 that allowed users to keep the vocal track of a song. The difference now is the camera: the user records themselves singing, and the lyrics scroll on the screen in real time.
How Selfie Sign works on Apple Music
The process is straightforward. You choose a song from the available list, activate the camera, and start recording. Before saving or sharing the clip, you can adjust the voice volume and apply four effects: Megaphone, Echo, Concert Hall, and Studio.
There’s one detail worth noting: Animoji isn’t available in this feature, as the preview’s creator clarified. It’s the person being recorded, not an avatar.
A short list, far from the complete catalog
Selfie Sing doesn’t work with the entire Apple Music catalog. The company has prepared its own playlist, currently consisting of five songs, and describes them as those tracks that everyone knows by heart and that get everyone in the room singing along.
- Since U Been Goneby Kelly Clarkson
- What Makes You Beautiful, from One Direction
- Like a Virgin, by Madonna
- Baby One More Timeby Britney Spears
- 9 to 5by Dolly Parton
The selection is small and easily recognizable, designed so that the first attempt yields results without much searching. No details have been given about how many songs will be added or whether the rest of the catalog will be made available in the future.

What else does iOS 27.3 bring?
The update isn’t just about karaoke. The beta version includes new AI features for Siri and a redesigned Health app for the iPhone, according to Engadget. It’s expected to be released to the general public sometime in December, though a specific date hasn’t been announced.
It remains to be seen whether Selfie Sing will require an Apple Music subscription, in which countries it will be available from day one, and how its catalog will grow. There’s also no direct confirmation from Apple cited in the article; everything stems from a MacRumors report and screenshots shared on X.
